Donald Harold Engelbrecht passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 10, 2007. He was born in Puyallup, Washington on May 10, 1925, and served in the Army Air Corps in World War II. He married Frances (Feen) Emery, the love of his life, on May 3, 1957.
Don was a beloved father, grandfather (Oompa), English teacher (Washington High School), golfer (with several holes in one to his credit), writer, and fantastic story teller. He was a world traveler, the life of the party, a generous soul, an active church member, and firm in his faith in God.
Don was preceded in death by his wife Feen, brother Tony, and sisters Marjorie and Ellen. He is survived by his brother, Luther, his daughter, Lisa (Steve Fain), his grandsons Bartlett (Becky) and Powell (Jacky), great grandchildren Caitlyn and Travis, and many nieces and nephews. Don was also blessed with many good friends.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 17th, 10 a.m., at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, 1500 W. Maryland, Phoenix. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix, AZ 85014-5656
