THOMAS FREDERIC HAMLYN
03-17-1949 - 04-12-2026

Thomas Frederic Hamlyn, 77 passed away on April 12, 2026 in Kanab, Utah. Born on March 17, 1949, in Phoenix, Arizona. Tom was raised there until he left for college. Born on St. Patrick's Day, he often joked about his Irish roots and had a special fondness for the holiday.

He went on to attend the Colorado School of Mines, graduating in 1972 with a degree in Chemical Petroleum Engineering.

Tom built a career as an engineer and was willing to go wherever the work called him. His work took him to Saudi Arabia, where he worked with Aramco, and later to Houston, Texas, where he continued his profession with various engineering firms.

Known for his sharp intellect and independent nature, Tom also had a deep love for animals and owned several pets, which brought him quiet joy throughout his life.

He was a member of the Episcopal Church including St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Katy, Texas. In recent years, Tom joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Kanab, Utah.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilfred Thomas Hamlyn and Margaret Helen (Quick) Hamlyn.

He is survived by his children, William Thomas Hamlyn (Sara Asher) and Susan Marie Hamlyn; his grandchildren, Courtney Taylor Hamlyn (Jason David Rice), Tad Colten Hamlyn and Isaiah James Hamlyn.

He was previously married to Kathryn Marie Willis Wohnoutka.

Tom's life reflected dedication to his work and the experiences he gained through living and working both internationally and in the United States. He leaves behind a legacy through his family, friends and the many people his life touched. May he rest in peace.
