In Memoriam

Kenneth Lee Stollsteimer

Kenneth Lee Stollsteimer and his twin sister were born on April 25, 1948 in Huntington Park, California. He was the 3rd child and only son of Kenneth Leland Stollsteimer and Vera June Porterfield Stollsteimer. He grew up there, playing in the excelsior plants where his father and mother worked, until his family moved to Arizona in 1953. They built a home that Ken still lived in at the time of his death. In Phoenix, Ken attended R.E. Simpson Elementary and West High, where he met the love of his life, Susan Rae Erb in 1965. They dated until he graduated in 1966. They were engaged a few months later and were married on June 1 1968, in the same church where his funeral will be held. Ken and Susan had three daughters. Jennifer was born in 1970, Angela in 1973, and Lorie in 1979. Ken worked as a carpenter and contractor all of his life. When he wasn't at work, he was usually working on a project for a friend or family member. Later in life those skills were put to use assembling swing sets, basketball hoops, and trampolines for his grandchildren. In 2002, Ken was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and he and his wife were sealed in the Mesa Arizona Temple on September 27, 2003. Ken served as a temple ordinance worker and as Bishop of the Osborn Ward. in August of 2016, Ken was diagnosed with lung cancer. After 8 months of treatment, Ken passed away early in the morning of Saturday, April 22, 2017. He is survived by his wife, Susan Stollsteimer, two sisters, three daughters, Jennier, Angela, and Lorie, 3 son-in-laws, Frank, Ron and Jon, 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Ken and June Stollsteimer, and his twin sister, Kay Bro. He loved the gospel of Jesus Christ and he loved his family. A love that grew only bigger each time a new grandchild or great-grandchild was born. Funeral services for Ken will be held on Tuesday, May 2, at 10:00 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3102 N. 18th Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85015. There will be a viewing at the same location beginning at 9:00 AM. Arrangements under the direction of A.L. Moore-Grimshaw Bethany Chapel, Phoenix, AZ. Source: Arizona Republic.
