Obituary of Thomas Montgomery Ferguson

Thomas Montgomery Ferguson, a longtime resident of Westlake Village, California, passed away peacefully at home on June 3, 2024 at age 81 with his beloved wife Peggy Wyatt by his side. 

Tom graduated from Arizona State University in 1966. He then served in the United States Army during the Vietman War as a Captain in Military Intelligence. For his brave service he received the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, two Overseas Bars, the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry and the Bronze Star. During his subsequent career as an engineer, Tom was owner and director of Newport Manufacturing and Stanford Engineering for over 40 years. 

Tom was the son of James and Marian Ferguson and stepmother Muriel Ferguson, deceased, of Piedmont, California. He is survived by his wife Peggy Wyatt, stepchildren Kristin Eckardt, Scott and Season Eckardt, Kerri and Jeffrey Liljegren, stepgrandchildren August Eckardt, Saige Eckardt, Greta Liljegren, Peter Liljegren, Henry Liljegren and his sister Sharon Ferguson. Tom’s other sister Helen Ferguson is deceased. 

Tom considered his marriage and family to be his greatest achievement and blessing. He and his loving wife Peggy shared 36 years of happiness together. Tom was an accomplished gourmet cook who enjoyed preparing delicious meals for family and friends. He also loved his mini dachschunds, music, skiing, gardening and working with technology. He enjoyed quiet time at home as well as time shared with family and friends. 

Tom will forever be remembered by all who knew him as a compassionate man of great honor, integrity and steadfastness. So many appreciated him as a friend and family member. He was always willing to lend a hand when needed without hesitation and stood by with great care at challenging times in the lives of those around him.
