Stan Cocks passed away February 4, 1997 of complications from the heart transplant he received in 1994. Classmates Ron Reich and Bob Matheny spoke at his memorial service, which was attended by numerous other members of the Class of 1962.

His obituary in the San Francisco Chronicle described him well: "Stanley was a charming, gentle man. His courage, blithe spirit and playful sense of humor will forever brighten all the those whose lives he touched so deeply ... "

Pamela Cocks, Stan's wife, reports that she and the children are doing well, though the grieving process continues. Lizzy, 15, is a sophomore at Piedmont High; Charlie is in the fourth grade at Havens.
