In Memoriam

Vickie Graham Robinson

1944 – 2024

(Written by my mother, Nancy Price, on April 30th.)

With love, tears, broken hearts, and great appreciation for her life, Cyndi and I are sad to share that our amazing mother, Vickie Graham Robinson, passed away suddenly yesterday, April 29.

She was a strong, smart, funny, generous, thoughtful, and vibrant woman who loved her family — including her two daughters, four granddaughters, two grandsons, one 7-1/2 month-old great-granddaughter, her brother Nick, and her sons-in-law, past and present.

She thrived on traveling (her favorite places included Hawaii and Italy), learning all kinds of new things (especially history, art, geology), and gardening. She also had wonderful friends in Napa, the Bay Area, Oregon, and many other places around the world.

Mom was born and raised in the Oakland/Piedmont area, and over the years, had many careers working as an attorney, realtor, entrepreneur, and fine art seller.

She had a lot of American history running through her veins, from Pilgrims who came over to Massachusetts in the 1630s, to a Revolutionary War veteran, to the founders of the town of Mendocino, right up to her father — a decorated Army officer who served in World War II.

Note from Nancy: Only last week, my son Quinn, partner Dan and I spent four days in Napa celebrating Quinn's and my birthday with my mom. She was cheerful, appeared to be healthy, and we all enjoyed our time together. We said goodbye on the morning of the 27th to start our drive back to Phoenix.

When we got home Sunday night, I messaged her to say we'd made it back safely. She wrote back to say happy birthday again, and mentioned offhandedly that she wasn’t feeling well and hoped we weren't getting sick, too.

The following day, I received the devastating news that she had passed away. Thankfully, it was quick, peaceful, and at her home.

Mom is already SO missed, and the news still seems surreal and shocks me over and over and over. There are a thousand more things I could say, but tears are taking over again.
