In Memoriam
Marylynn Henes
1945 - 2021
Liz (Betsy) Jones was kind enough to share her memories of Marylynn.
“Marylynn died on July 6 after a brief illness.
“She grew up seven houses from me on Mountain Avenue. As neighbors, our parents socialized, so we met as children. We went to summer camp at Camp Augusta in Nevada City. In high school she was active on the Clan-0-Log, danced the Highland Fling at football games and loved dance and swimming. She attended UC Berkeley with a major in Finance.
“In 1965, we met again in New York City where she was a realtor. After returning to California, she helped her mother set up Personal Expressions, a clothing and gift shop in Mendocino. In 1978 her mother and my father married, and we became step-sisters in our 30’s.
“For 10 years, she lived in Lake County where she managed a spa in Calistoga and was active at Harbin Hot Springs. Later, she moved back to Mendocino to help her mother with property management at the shop. She was an avid spiritual seeker and was active in her local church. A service will be held in Mendocino tentatively scheduled in October.”
We will all miss Marylynn.

Maryly Snow
Betsy, thank you for that nice summary of Marylynn. How wonderfully strange to become step-sisters in your adult life! Be well, Maryly Snow

Betsy, I, too want to thank you for posting your memory of Marylynn. I certainly remember her as a creative member of our class. On a long ago weekend visit to Mendocine with my former wife and Kim & Lee Barrett, we ran into Marylynn while browsing in her mother's shop. It had been a long time since high school, but we all reconized one another, traded brief updates, and promised to return one day to again catch up. Unfortunately that never happened. Again, thank you for informing us of Marylynn's passing. It's always sad to hear of a classmate leaving us.

I also remember spending some time visiting with Maylynn while in Mendocino some many years ago! She looked the same as she had in high school and we had a nice exchange. I hope she had many happy years.

Thank you all for sharing. I didn't know Marylynn very well but I do remember her laugh and smile. She also had lovely stature, I enjoyed watching hour she carried herself.
Best wishes to all,
Sally McKnight
