In Memoriam

Susan Sirgo Crow

1944 - 2023

I recently learned of the death of Susan Sirgo Crow.  She had suffered from Alzheimer’s for several years.

For our 40th and 50th Reunion Clan-O-Log, Susan shared this account of her life with her husband George.  “George and I went our separate ways after college graduation.  I worked as a social worker for Alameda County and retired in 1983. George joined General Electric as an electrical engineer, moved to Hewlett Packard, then Apple and retired in 2006.

"We married other people (I was blessed with a son, Stephen), divorced and met each other again shortly before the 20th reunion.  We married soon after, and the three of us moved to Los Altos where we’ve lived for many years.

“George and I continue to get along after almost 20 years. Together, we have been able to travel, ski, and enjoy the many cultural opportunities available here in the bay area.  It has been wonderful to see all of you through the years.  We’re always saddened to hear that some classmate has died . . .”

"Late last year we sold our home and 'downsized' to a condo near the center of Los Altos where we can walk to stores, restaurants, the library, and other activities – it was a big change that we’re still getting used to.

"Both sets of parents have died, but I was fortunate to have my mother until just a year ago when she died at 95.  "We’re in good health and looking forward to the reunion!"

We will all miss Susan, and our thoughts are with our classmate George in this difficult time.

George Crow, Bob Jacobsen, Sue crow and I h ad lunch in Union City just a few years ago, It was such a happy get together over hamburgers and good fun.  Soon afterwards I understand that sue was living in a skilled nursing facility while struggling with Alzheimers.  My recollewciton is that she and George had recentky  had a geat time in attending a far distant  opera pefrormance shortly before our get together.  I could tell at the time of our meeting how closely bonded George and Sue were and how  much love existed between them.  I am saddened that their love affair was interrupted and I marvel at t he strength and devotion George showed during Sue's final years.

RIP Sue you are misssed
