MORDY, Charles Alan (Al)
February 12, 1947 – June 4, 2015
His family is devastated to announce the sudden passing of Al Mordy on June 4, 2015. Al is survived by his wife of 40 years, Judy, and his two children, Douglas (Candice) and Ann (Isha). Also left to mourn his loss are his many loving nieces, nephews, and in-laws. He was predeceased by his parents Harry and Lilian, and his sister Barbara. Al was born in North Vancouver, but spent his childhood in Portland and San Francisco before moving back to Vancouver as a young man. He became a Chartered Accountant after articling with KPMG, and in 1976 he joined Cloverdale Paint as controller. He worked his way to President and CEO and was active in several industry-related associations, in both Canada and in the U.S., where the company had extended its presence in recent years. He loved the challenges that came with the job, and enjoyed his work tremendously. Al loved the ocean and was an avid boater and fisherman who never missed an opportunity to share his love of fishing with others. If the weather didn't allow for boating, he happily spent time on the golf course. He will be remembered as a loving father and husband who will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada, or the charity of your choice, would be appreciated. Cloverdale Paint has arranged a Celebration of Life for Al on June 19 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Pacific Gateway Hotel, Red Cedar Ballroom, in Richmond, BC.
