Barbara Ann Barker (Knight)

Sandy was a very dear friend during our high school years.  I dont know how well any of you ever knew her, but she was such a special person. She was so bright and witty, and so much fun.  I cannot  count the times she brougt me to tears laughing at her antics.   At the same time, she was very kind and  sensitive, the kind of friend I felt so lucky  to have. I will always treasure my memories of her. One in particular comes to mind;  late one afternoon we were down at the river,  playing a very bizarre  game.  We were tossing our classrings up in the air with our eyes closed and then finding them in the sand.  We  took turns doing this,  both would close our eyes, but only one would toss the ring.  It was near dusk, and Sandy had tossed her ring for the last time as it was getting dark. We looked and looked and could not find it.  We started giggling,  I guess in a panic state knowing  that her parents were going to absoulutely kill her, maybe me too...  Believe me they were not very understanding about this, took them awhile to get over it, but they did finally.  We went back to the same spot several times but never found the ring. Ah, sweet youth,  its a wonder we lived through those wild and crazy  years.                                                                                                                                                 

Sandy died June 8, 2007 at Methodist Hospital in Arcadia, Ca. Her husband  Merle died a few years earlier.  She had 3 children ,one daughter and two sons. She lost one of her sons a few years ago.
