Wayne was an interesting guy, tough little person with an attitude.  There are several memories of Wayne that i carry with me:  First, he really beat me up one night when we were out screwing aroung.  I think Chuck and Cork can verify this story; somehow we got into a shoving match, resulting in a wrestling match, then into a fist fight, which i lost, badly.  the second story:  we were to cross the traffic lighted intersection at the corner where the JC Penny building was, only some guy pulled into the crosswalk, Wayne walked across the hood of the guy's car, which did not please the diriver.  When confronted Wayne promptly beat the crap out of him!; third, remember the car dirving contest,  i think school sponsored?  Wayne won!  He really could drive his car,  i remember him as sittting real close to the wheel with his arm out the window, so primarily a one handed driver.  Finally, Wayne thought he should play football.  He came out for the team, put on pratice gear, got into the mix and decided that if people were hitting him, and he couldn't "fight back", then this wasn't for him.  Neat guy.

Stopped in Madison, Wisconsin on trip back home from Michigan.  Wayne and his wife operated a hotel with a restaurant.  The steak that Wayne had prepared was simply delicious.  THe last reunion he attended was difficult for him as he was driving his truck and needed to coordinate the load and time to coinside with the reunion.  As i recall he was headed to or back from Washington state.  Carl

Wayne with the mischievous smile and the ability to pull off a prank on the guys so everybody could laugh. Kind of a James Dean rebel that the girls liked. Pound for pound one of the toughest guys around but had your back if he was your friend. We respected his loyalty and true friendship. However, there were times his ideas for fun were a bit on the edge like why would anyone walk into a field at night and actually try to piss off a 1,200 lb bull? I watched from the other side of the fence near the car. RIP

Wayne and I  were in USAF basic training together in the winter of 1960, some fun times.  In that environment his attitude reaped mixed blessings.  Although we didn't stay in touch as we should have, I will miss him.  As with people and other things in our lives we don't appreciate them enough until they are gone.   Steve

Wayne watched out for me when i was a small teen, don't know why but he did. I watched him and learned.

I was there the night that Wayne picked a fight with Carl.  He was in a "mood" to prove something.  I have remembered it several times over the years and tried to reconcile it.  My understanding was that he has taken some golden-gloves boxing lessons and had some abilities with that.  I am sorry he had to go through that display with Carl, because of that I was always wary of him.

I do remember some good times with Wayne.  I hope his life was fulfilling for him.
