Sharon Beverley Grebing (Roseland)

Sharon Beverley Grebing (Roseland)

Sharon Beverly Grebing was born August 2, 1942, in Pierre, SD only child of Kenneth and Elizabeth Grebing.  She grew up in Pierre and attended business school in Rapid City, South Dakota.  Sharon worked for many years for the Department of Game, Fish, and Parks as an accountant, finally retiring in 2002.  After retiring, Sharon enjoyed volunteering her time with many organizations; her favorite being the Hospice Thrift Store where she enjoyed meeting new people and working with old friends.

Sharon loved animals, especially  horses.  She got her first horse at age 6, a black and white mare named Lady, which Sharon kept her whole life.  Lady finally passed at 37 years old.  Sharon had an amazing life; she was always on the go.  Some of Sharon's favorite memories included being part of the Oahe Drill Team in the late 1950's and early 60's.  They would perform at many rodeos and parades throughout the state every year.  Going to Custer State Park for the Buffalo Roundup to work.  She got to drive people up the arm of Crazy Horse, the riders of the Buffalo Roundup and helped work the buffalo.  She also timed rodeos for many years and worked several Circuit Finals as a timer.

Sharon married the love of her life, Ronald "Hoss" Roseland in 1974.  After Hoss died in 1999, Sharon kept their cattle and horses, eventually selling off the cows completely in 2009, but she never got rid of her horses and kept them close to home at the yard in Fort Pierre so she could go feed and visit them every day.  They were a great comfort to her after losing Hoss.

Hoss and Sharon went to the NFR in Las Vegas every year since it was moved there in 1985 but two years.  Before that they always attended when it was in Oklahoma Ciry where Hoss would flank horses and bulls at the finals.  Sharon promised Hoss she would keep going to the finals after he was gone, a promise she kept.  It was one of their favorite things and they always took along a host of friends and family with them.  Sharon was a Gold Card Member of the PRCA.  Hoss and Sharon loved their animals.  Besides going to rodeos, they loved to go to horse and cattle sales.  And they could usually be found at the sale barn.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Ken and Elizabeth, and her husband Hoss.  Survived by her neice and nephew and a group of special friends.
