
Gorden E Parlet was born February 6, 1942 to Cliff and Ellen (Mackaman) Parlet in Colome, SD. He passed away at his home in Rapid City on Monday, October 21, 2024 at the age of 82.
Gordon attended both grade and high school in Pierre, SD. In 1962, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served his country in Texas and Minnesota as an Air Policemen. After fulfilling his commitment, he enrolled in Black Hills State College in Spearfish, graduating in 1970 with an Education Major. While attending BHSC, Gordon served as a Vice President of the Student Senate, and was active in the Vets Club.
Gordon taught school in Belle Fourche for several years prior to him joining the Dodge Town team in Rapid City. Gordon worked in the auto business for several years, then joined the Flowers by Leroy team. He married and divorced Linda Johnson. In 1984, Gordon married Teri Decker Bender, joining her family with Matt and Stephanie.
Gordon was a member of the Battle River Masonic Lodge #92 in Hermosa. He was a very active member of the Naja Shrine, serving as an officer in the Air Patrol, Golf Unit, Royal Order of Jesters, and the Rapid City Shrine Club. In 2005, he served as an Assistant Director General for the Midwest Shrine Association. In 2018, Gordon served as Director General. He was also very active in the SD Order of the Eastern Star Golden Llink Chapter #14. Gordon also served the Elks Lodge #1187 as Exalted Ruler.
Preceding him in death were his parents; brother Mac; sister Mary; and his wife Teri. Survivors include his step-son, Matt (Wendy) Bender, and grandchildren, Chloe and Josh, all of Rapid City, SD; and step-daughter, Stephanie (Cliff) Westbrook, and grandchildren Nick, Ben, Abigail, and Matthew of Eufaula, AL.
