I recall many summers walking with my sisters and their girlfriends to go swimming at Lake Worth. This would require me to walk on the stoney sidewalks of New Freedom Road. At some point the sidewalk ended before we got to the lake and so I would have to walk on the hot tar or hot sand or "stickered" grass on the sides of the road. I have no idea why I did not wear sneakers or sandles but typically my feet were pretty well burnt by the time I got to Lake worth. Boy, that water sure felt good when i stuck my feet in it.
