For a period of time, the older guy, "Skeets" and older teenager, "Chris" with whom I delivered Sunday moring papers, would often invite me to join them to go to sporting events. One such event was Roller Derby at the Cherry Hill Area. OMG, was a hoot! I got to watch, "Wildman Gene Lane" of the NY Bombers beat up or get beaten up my the big Texan guy on some other team. Then there was "Ringo" on the Jersey Jolsters whose namesake was taken by the fact that he wore a Beetles haircut and had a big nose like Ringo of the British rock group. And being at the tender age of between 12 and 14 years old, I was completely aghast at the way the women would beat the hell out of each other; pulling hair, punching, tripping each other...incredible! I loved it. We also went to many Phillies games at the old Connie Mack stadium.
