PERKINS, WILLIAM JAMES, JR.
Of Cherry Hill, born January 12, 1952, passed away on Tuesday morning, November 18, 2003 at the age of 51 from a complicated illness. He was born in Philadelphia, PA, and raised in Pine Hill, NJ. He graduated from Overbrook H.S. in 1970 and received a degree in computer programming while serving in the U.S. Army. He moved to Cherry Hill in 1984 to raise his children: son Jeffrey (wife Cadence), son Gregory, and daughter Kristen. Mr. Perkins was a loving and caring person who always thought of others before himself. He devoted his life to his children and always put their needs, well-being, and happiness before his own. He was a very involved father holding positions in his children's wrestling, football, boy scouts, and girl scouts organizations. He guided many of his children's friends through rough times and he never failed to do his best in giving advice and assistance to who ever needed it. In addition to his children, he is survived by his father William Sr. of Pine Hill, sisters Elizabeth Palen of Erial, Barbara Strasser of West Berlin, and Alice Perkins of Mantua, and his brother Kenneth Perkins of Tabernacle and many loving nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the viewing on Sunday 5-7pm and Monday morning 8:30-9am at the ORA L. WOOSTER FUNERAL HOME - 51 Park Blvd., Clementon. Mass of Christian Burial Monday 10:00am at St. Mary's R.C. Church, 2001 Springdale Rd., Cherry Hill, NJ. Int: New St. Mary's Cemetery, Bellmawr, NJ.

Billy had the most wonderfully dry sense of humor! And like Bob Carney, he was in the loop for the 30th reunion preparations and the reunion itself.I will always remember his hysterically funny comments during our group chats!

I was shocked and devastated to hear that Billy had passed away. We first met as little kids when his family lived a few houses down from mine in Philadephia. In 1958 both of our families moved to New Jersey and ended up living in the same neighborhood.We had our battles as kids growing up but we managed to reconnect again as adults to form a wonderful friendship. I had the pleasure of spending time with Billy in February of 2001 when I flew from California, where I was living at the time, to visit my brother in King of Prussia. Billy came to see me and we went out for a wonderful dinner. I found out what a great father he was. He raised his 3 children, who he loved more than anything, on his own. This person who used to get on my nerves as a child turned out to be a wonderful,kind, caring and loving man. I really miss him and his quirky sense of humor.
