Rest in Peace, Paul

Maybery, Paul George age 76, of Burnsville, passed away September 9, 2023. He was a talented tuba player, conductor and arranger specializing in brass band music from the 1880's to the 1930's. Born and raised in New Jersey, he settled in Minnesota where he contributed his musical expertise on many levels. He directed the Calhoun-Isles Community Band and served as music director at Wooddale Church and the Salvation Army. An accomplished tuba player, he freelanced in a variety of musical venues. As an arranger and orchestrator, he worked with and created music for Lorie Line and for the PBS documentaries The Civil War, Baseball and Jazz. His main passion was standing on the podium and directing a band. He directed the Yankee Brass Band and the Great Western Rocky Mountain Brass Band for many years. His knowledge, wit and talent will be dearly missed. A memorial service will be held in Silverton, Colorado. Memorials/donations may be sent to the Salvation Army.
