James Herbert - Class Of 1958

                                         Rest in Peace, Jim

James C. Herbert, age 75 of Stratford, passed away on Friday, October 23, 2015. Jim, as he was known to family and friends, was born to the late Edward Herbert and Violet Hay Herbert in Camden, NJ. He graduated from Overbrook Regional High School in 1958 and later attended Camden County College where he met his wife of 35 years, Helene. One of his favorite sayings when referring to their love story was, " We met in Intermediate Accounting and were married in Cost Accounting. " Jim proudly worked as a Public Affairs Specialist for the Social Security Administration in Trenton, NJ. He received numerous awards for his work, including a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition for outstanding and invaluable service to the community in 2014, and was additionally recognized for 50 years of service in the government of the United States of America. Jim was avid sports fan and especially loved football, baseball, and horse racing. He rooted for Eagles and the Phillies, even through the rough times, which were ( and are ) many. He also loved traveling and taking trips with his family. Jim was a friend to all and was known for his warmth, generosity, and a sense of humor that never failed to make people laugh. Jim was preceded in death by brothers Edward Herbert and Raymond Herbert and his daughter Kimberly Conley. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 35 years, Helene Herbert, daughter Mary Sullivan and her husband John of Stratford, NJ; granddaughter Katelyn Sullivan and her husband Isaac Earley of Stratford, NJ; grandsons Brandon Conley and his fiancée Ashley McClain of Jeffersonville , VT, and Zachary Conley of Burlington, VT; great-grandson Kayden Conley of Jeffersonville, VT; sister Jean De Angelis of Stratford, NJ; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing and visitation on Wednesday from 11:00 am- 12:30 pm at Eugene J. Zale Funeral Home, Inc, 712 N. White Horse Pike, Stratford, NJ. Funeral Service 12:30:pm. Burial will follow at Union Hill Cemetery Kennett Square, PA
