John E. "Jack" Pedano, age 76, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2017. Devoted husband of Dorothy (nee Chester); much loved father to sons Tom (Rene) and Scott (Peg), and stepdaughter Susan; beloved Poppy to his nine grandchildren; dear younger brother to Marian (Bob) Moran, Phyllis (and the late Bill) Scherzer, George "Skip" (Millie) Pedano, predeceased by sister Elizabeth; survived by several nieces, nephews and valued friends and family that meant the world to him.
Jack was born in Philadelphia to George and Lillian Pedano. His family moved to Laurel Springs, NJ when he was a young child. Jack was a graduate of Overbrook Regional HS where he was honored as a Football All-American. He continued his football career at Memphis State University before entering the US Army in 1962. He served his country proudly in the 2nd Cavalry Regiment on the DMZ in Korea. He worked for Bell Telephone as a switchman and retired after 36 years. Jack and Dot thoroughly enjoyed their retirement in New Vineyard, Maine for 17 years where he was an active member of the Sandy River ATV Club and a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #78. He was an avid reader and loved life. He will always be remembered as a kind, gentle, lighthearted, loving man with a terrific sense of humor. He befriended all, telling jokes and sharing stories that made everyone laugh.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family on Thursday, October 19th from 9:00-11:00 AM at the Danks-Hinski Funeral Home, 125 N. White Horse Pike, Lindenwold, N.J. 08021. Mass of the Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, St. Lawrence Church. Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
