Rest in Peace, Mr.Poaches

Bryan B. Poaches, Jr., 72, of Orlando, passed away on Sunday, September 26, 2021 at AdventHealth Orlando.
Bryan was born on July 22, 1949 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to parents Bryan B. and Rose (Whiting) Poaches. He graduated from Edgewood Regional High School in Atwood, NJ and went on to receive a bachelor's degree from Tennessee Technological University and a master's degree from Rutgers University.
Bryan held a long career as an educator, serving in the roles of history teacher, high school alternative principal, and adjunct professor. He was honored as a recipient of the Camden County, New Jersey Dr. Martin Luther King Teacher Award and many other accolades. He also served as the Temple University cheerleading coach for several years in the 1990s. In his tenure as an educator, mentor, and coach, he touched the lives of many.
After retiring, Bryan moved from New Jersey to Florida, living in Daytona Beach and Orlando. He spent his retirement doing many things: working as a toll booth collector; helping his good friend, Sue, organize bingo and other events at her housing community; volunteering at the Ormond Beach Council of Aging Senior Center; and being an active member of the Volusia County Democratic Party. He was a valued member of New Church Family, Daytona Beach, and served as the Social Director.
Bryan was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his brother, James Poaches of Fort Lauderdale, FL; Aunt, Virginia Poaches of Orange, NJ; niece, Dominique Thompson (Michael) of Bloomsburg, PA; cousins Beverly Poaches, Cyd Poaches, Jan Poaches of Orange N.J.; Kim Poaches Mitchell of Philadelphia, PA; Louise Essie Walker (Charles) of Stroudsburg, PA.; Anita Fleetwood (Leon); Camille Norman of Philadelphia, PA., Ernest M. Poaches Jr. (Geraldine) of Smyrna, DE.; Ruth White of Philadelphia, PA.; Jacqulene Floyd of Garner, NC.; Bernard Poaches (Vernice) of Emmaus, PA; and a host of cousins from Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, and South Carolina; dear friends, Tony, Nikki, and Dan of Daytona Beach, FL; Anthony of Deland, FL; Joel of Orlando, FL; Verna of Stratford, NJ; Theodora of Clearwater, FL; and his beloved cat, Sylvia.
Bryan will be remembered for his laugh, warmth, and genuine kindness. He will be missed by so many who hold fond memories of him.
