In Memory

Sandy Davis (Headley) - Class Of 1964

                                                           Rest in Peace, Sandy

Sandy Headley, the artist formerly known as Toots, ended her trail blazing path with COPD on February 25th, and Ascended to the peaceful gates of Heaven. She was born in Philadelphia, grew up in Clementon NJ, and spent most of her life in the Jersey Pines of Tabernacle, NJ.

Sandy was preceded in death by her mom and dad: Dora (nee Greenberger) and Albert Davis, and brother: Stanford Davis. She is survived by her husband, George A. Headley Jr of 54 years, daughter Colleen M. Wade (husband Chris), sons George A. Headley III and Robert J. Headley, grandchildren Christopher, Matthew and Katie Wade and many other brother/sister in-laws, nieces/nephews and friends-like-family.

A beloved mom, gram, wife, sister-in-law, aunt, friend and phenomenal human to all, who has made life extra special for so many. While she started out in the publishing industry, she later navigated to the school food services industry, which enabled her to straddle motherhood and employment. With her unique ability to relate to children, she quickly became the famous adored Snack Shack Hero known as Toots. Of her many gifts, the most critical one was the power of laughter. Throughout her journey, she was an avid creative crafter; from baskets to wreaths, croquet blankets, holiday ornaments, cross stitching – always making everyone feel so special with her thoughtful creations. Her passions included gift shopping, which started promptly on December 26th and went all year long, with a keen ability to find bargains undiscoverable by the average shopper! A culinary genius, notably her secret Maryland Crab recipe (caught by her kids) that the big crowd of family always savored! In addition, through all of the many shenanigans of her children and their friends, she remained patient as a saint! She always fostered fun, and everyone always had a blast with Sandy in the mix! To boot, she was a gentle vigilante, always looking out for the underserved!  Now she rests in eternal peace, as her troopers champion her spirit.

We celebrate her life on what would have been her 77th birthday: March 4, 2023.  A visitation on Saturday will be held from 2:00pm to 3:00pm followed by a memorial service at 3:00pm, all at Lechner Funeral Home, 24 N. Main St., Medford, NJ 08055.  A local reception will follow, details forthcoming.
