In Memory

Bob Lee - Class Of 1963

                                 Rest In Peace, Bob

JOHN R. (BOB) LEE

October 5, 1945  -  June 15, 2023

Atco, NJ

John R. (Bob) Lee passed away on June 15, 2023, at the age of 77. He was the beloved husband of Anita (nee Pedersen). Loving father of Larissa Lee, Amanda Dranchak (Matt), and Adam Lee (Megan). Proud grandfather of Mason, Charlotte, and Samuel Dranchak, and Vienna and Tanner Lee. Bob is also survived by his sister, Nancy Harazin.

Bob came through the starting gate of life on October 5, 1945, born to parents John and Ruth (Fisher) Lee. He grew up roaming the paddocks of Pine Hill with many close friends and family members and attended Overbrook High School, where he was part of the class of 1963. After getting his degree from Glassboro State College, Bob returned to Overbrook to teach and later transferred to Edgewood to continue his career. He retired in 2005 after a 38-year stint as an educator.

Never one to sit idle, Bob also coached varsity sports and owned F&L Building and Remodeling during his teaching years. He served as head coach at Edgewood for both the football and baseball teams. He found tremendous success in baseball, especially, winning a trifecta of NJ State Championships in 1978, 1979, and 1989.

In his spare time, Bob liked to drive his 1970 Chevelle, go fishing, and listen to music ranging from Motown and Neil Diamond to Billy Joel and Broadway tunes. He enjoyed traveling, often to beaches and especially to his beloved Hawaii. His favorite hobby, though, was betting on horse races. An avid handicapper, Bob visited numerous tracks around the country and won at most of them. He enjoyed the challenge of finding a dark horse and beating the odds—and then telling the story to anyone who would listen.

Above all else, Bob’s greatest passion in life was his family. He and Anita were happily married for over 51 years, and he doted on the children and grandchildren who came from that union. Bob had a heart bigger than a thoroughbred’s, and it won him many, many friends over the years. He rarely went anywhere in South Jersey without running into someone he knew. Bob touched the lives of a lot of people, and though he has now crossed the finish line, his was a race well run, and he will be greatly missed.

Relatives and friends are invited to the visitation on Thursday June 22nd from 9:00-11:00 AM at the Bradley Funeral Home, Rt. 73 & Evesham Rd., Marlton, NJ. Memorial Service will begin at 11:00 AM. Interment will be private, at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to be directed to Food Bank of South Jersey.
