Abe was always a good person from the time I first met him at Colfax School until the last time I saw him at a Shabbot service at Tree of Life over a year ago.

I have just learned of Abe's passing.....two and a half years later. Beyond saddened by the death of a kind, dedicated family man, physician and friend. We were friends beginning in Colfax and throughout high school. He worked hard at everything he attempted whether it be the French horn in A band or bowling at the Forward Lanes. He became our resident celebrity when he competed on Bowling for Dollars with Nick Perry. Abe lived across the street from the Poale Zadek and actively practiced and exemplified his faith. We lost track of each other when he went to Pitt but renewed our friendship in Chicago at medical school. While everybody worked hard....Abe worked harder. He took on tasks nobody wanted and in particular was class President for all four years. He was an active advocate for everybody and was respected and admired for all his efforts. Cardiology was his calling and after completing his fellowship the people of Pittsburgh were lucky enough to have him return. I too lucked out since he and I worked the same hospitals.. I had the great benefit of knowing that any patient I sent Abe's way would be getting the best care available. Once again he gained the respect and admiration of his colleagues while he built his practice. His family life was private but paramount. Beyond his love for Robin and the kids he loved and excelled at tennis. With regularity through all seasons Abe could be seen jogging everywhere and competed in marathons. He touched many lives with his care and compassion. He was a mensh and those lucky enough to have known him can say the met a man who led a righteous if not heroic life which ended too soon.
