Rest in Peace and Long may you run Jimmy,
METZLER JAMES L. "JIMMY"
Age 52, of Washington, PA and formerly of Whitehall, died peacefully on Friday, March 18, 2011 after a brief illness. He was comforted in passing with his family and especially his son by his side. Jimmy was the son of the late Lawrence J. and Patricia (Barry) Metzler of Whitehall; beloved father of Patrick Metzler of Moon Twp., PA; cherished brother to Nancy Shannon of Washington, PA, Susan (Timothy) Shannon of Canonsburg, PA, Jaynne (Bill) Dignon of Whitehall, Barry (Cindy) Metzler of Whitehall and Larry Metzler also of Whitehall; dear, long-time friend and former husband of Laura (Stewart) Brinkley. Also survived by 20 nieces and nephews that loved his stories, his "Jimmy-isms" and his eye for the absurd. Jimmy had many dear friends, more than we can mention, but he was particularly fond of the motley crew of cohorts that boasted the likes of Kovalovitch, Mother Hubbard (and Gabe), Wyatt, The Oggies, Mark and Woody. We can't forget McNabb, Can-do, Gill, BD, Glue, Richard Kimball, Whitey and 'Can't Get Right'. Friends and family will be received at the JOHN F. SLATER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Gabriel of the Sorrowful Virgin Church on Monday at 10:00 a.m. EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made directly to the family for the Patrick Metzler College Fund, 510 Mt. Vernon Avenue, Coraopolis, PA 15108. From all who loved you Jimmy, "Long may you run!". Jimmy was always a gentleman and will surely be missed. He was great to talk to and a fun person as well, last I saw of him he was jogging up my street on East Barlind. So sorry Jim.
