Patricia Weaver (Telkins)

Mrs. Donna Rae Han of Lewisville passed away unexpectedly on February 15, 2015. She was born on February 1, 1941, in Johnstown, PA to Elwood Houser and Edna Mae (Langsford) Houser. She graduated from Westminster College, New Wilmington, PA, in 1963 and earned a Master’s Degree in Religious Education from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary in 1965.
Upon graduation, Donna taught special education in Pittsburgh. She married the Rev. Hewon Han on March 8, 1969 and moved to Urbana, IL in 1975. There she raised her two children and worked as a special education curriculum writer for the University of Illinois before moving to Lewisville in 1989.
Donna was a vision screener for Prevent Blindness North Carolina for many years. She was an ordained Elder in the Presbyterian Church and served on the session of Shallowford Presbyterian Church, where she was a founding member of the Mothers Morning out program.
Donna’s greatest joy was always time spent with her family, especially her son David Han (Tara Schwier) of Auburn, AL, daughter Bethany Han of Lewisville, and her grandchildren: Cora, Jacob and Laura. She loved arranging family vacations and every gathering always included a hearty home-cooked meal.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by her sister, Nancy Taylor.
She is survived by her husband and children, brothers Larry Houser and George Houser of Pittsburgh, and many nephews, nieces and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at Shallowford Presbyterian Church in Lewisville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Donna’s honor to Shallowford Presbyterian Church, 1200 Lewisville-Clemmons Rd, PO Box 159, Lewisville, NC 27023.
