Bruce was truly a great man and a solid Christian. My condolences to his family. The last time i saw Bruce was at our luncheon hosted by the Pennys' and i thought Bruce looked better than all of us and had completely recovered from his stroke a few years ago. During our conversation, he said he stepped aside trom the daily vigors of running his accounting firms business, but he kept his hand on all of the major decisions. What a great athlete he was as well. Played shortstop on our all star team and always made the right decisions. He was a guard on the undefeated basketball team at fort couch junior high, and he was always on top of the game as a leader and decision maker. His family lost a son a many years ago and now Bruce will be joining him in Heaven.

Bruce and I were roomates freshman year at Lehigh.  We teamed up with 2 other guys on our floor at Drinker House (can't remember the fifth) and swept all opponents to win the All-University basketball championship.  As teammates on the storied 1959 Mount Lebo basketball five, Bruce's ball handling prowess led us to a 20-3 season barely missing the WPIAL playoffs when we were upset by Canonsburg High in their bandbox of a gym the last game of the season.  Bruce and I were also miscast classmates in Miss Elm's advanced math class senior year.  I remember during the final exam we sat next to one another and exchanged furtive glances at one another's papers.  To no avail, we both got C's.

Reading about Bruce reminded me of a passage from a short story by John Berger:  "He pulled a chair from under the table, he sat down and wept.  He wept for all that no longer would happen."

I remember Bruce as the perfect gentleman.  An outstanding athlete and friend to all.  He and his  "Farmer" classmates made our athletics what we were whether it be track, football, baseball etc.  All told they all represented many many WPIAL and State Championships.  God Bless all of the "Farmers' and the incredible Ladies they brought with them too- we loved them all!!!!!
