Lisa was really cool! I remember her well. Full of love and art. What battle to face so very young. Still makes me choke up.

I think of Lisa often...I can still see her face like it was yesterday. She was a good soul, and much older that her years. I remember going to see her at the hospital before she died...she said she would continue to live on through all of our memories of her. I hope that she was right.

Her and I just really hit it off....I knew her for so long before I even realized she was sick...she never said a word

Lisa was probably the first genuine person I'd ever known -- who had really come to grips with being okay with who she was, regardless of what anyone else thought. Maybe her illness helped her get there faster than the rest of us. It was a comfortability with just 'being' that I've never forgotten.

Lisa and I were good friends. I remember when her hair started falling out. It bothered her at first and then she thought, "What the hell, let them stare!" She was a very strong person - at least on the outside. She was the first totally cool person I ever met and she showed me what dying with dignity means.

I knew Lisa from the beginning at Howe School. I remember her as being her own person from an early age. I can remember at Mellon sharing the role with her of Mrs. Bedwin in the play Oliver. She was sick at the time but still put everything into the role. Just recently I pulled out our year book and read the poem she wrote...even then she had feelings much more deep than most of us...it brought a tear to my eye.

I've been looking for this photo for a long time and it surfaced yesterday amongst other photos from a different era.  I won't question why it surfaced now, but I do know that the image was meant to be shared now.

This photo was taken at a Young Life meeting.  Sitting next to Lisa is Greg Kronz.  He was one of the Young Life leaders.

Lisa touched so many lives in so many different ways.  My memories are of Young Life, our friendship at Mellon Jr. High and another memory of the class picnic at Kennywood.  I remember spending the night at her house, both of us excited about Kennywood the next day.  I didn't sleep a wink for the gerbils playing on their wheel which squeaked all night.  I have other memories but they are fuzzy.  Age?  Probably. I will post more memories of Lisa Gordon as they come to mind.  If you have memories and haven't shared them yet, please do.  Your memories may spark a memory for someone else to share.

The back of this photo is dated 5/6/76.
