80th Jubilee
Regarded as a "revolutionary" teacher in the 1940s and 50s, Sister Regina Clare Hart practiced "cooperative" and "hands-on" learning techniques in the classroom long before educators formalized these teaching strategies. She placed students in small circles, encouraged them to share ideas and inspired them to learn by doing.
Sister Regina Clare taught at all grade levels in the Dioceses of Pittsburgh, Greensburg and Altoona-Johnstown. Her longest ministry (1968–1984) was at St. Joseph High School in Natrona where she was a teacher and principal. She demonstrated leadership in training teachers and developing curriculum for other schools before returning in 1993 to St. Joseph as a mentor, librarian and Dean of Students.
After retiring from seven decades in education, Sister Regina Clare said, "Education has been part of my life for so long. I just can’t imagine not being around the children.God has truly blessed me with a heaven here on earth."
