Randy McGreevy

Randall Patrick McGreevy of Everett, Washington, died at home on December 14, 2021. Born to Raymond Charles and Amata Jean McGreevy on September 2, 1953, Patrick was raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. After graduating from Baldwin High School in 1971, Patrick moved to Seattle, Washington. He attended the University of Washington, earning a bachelor's degree in marine fisheries and oceanography, followed by a juris doctorate. Admitted to the Washington State Bar in 1978, Patrick was a well-respected lawyer with a successful legal practice spanning 43 years. The only thing Patrick could not pass up was a golf course-he played on courses all over the country and around the world, and always made a new friend on each course. He also enjoyed sailing with friends, watching the waves at his beach cabin on Puget Sound, and doting on his beloved retrievers. Patrick is survived by his former wife, Karen Gibbon; his two sons, Ben and Alex; his older brother, Rick; and his sister, Amata Jayne Haftmann. He was preceded in death by his parents and his eldest brother, Raymond. A memorial service for Patrick is scheduled for 2:00 PM on January 29, 2022, at the Peace Lutheran Church in Silvana, Washington. Dear Randy:  You were an amazing, brave, young classmate of mine at St. Gabriel of the Sorrowful Virgin.  I will always remember you.   Rest in peace.

I met Randy in 10th grade. He was a special guy. He was smart, athletic, and had a wonderful sense of humor.  In 11th grade English, our teacher Mrs. Row, assigned us to interpret the lyrics to the song MacArthur park. We were flummoxed and had no idea why the park melted in the dark, and what green icing had to do with anything. While our poetic interpretation was inadequate at best, Mrs. Row, asked us to help select a name for a future first child. Randy recommended that she name her first child Skid. I am fairly confident that she did not name her child Skid Row, although to be honest I did not keep up with her and possibly she did.  I always thought it was a great idea. The world will be a little less light with Randy's passing.  He will be missed.
