Mary passed away surrounded by her family on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at her home in Otsego.

She was born May 25, 1950 in Kalamazoo to Harold and Ruth (Lamphere) Austin.  Mary had worked at many area factories and had opearted a daycare out of her home.  She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Otsego where she had been head of the prayer chain and had been part of the True Blue Sunday school.  Mary had volunterred to run the Otsego Christian Academy's lunch program, had been a teacher's aide and helped plan and organize the annual Thanksgiving dinner.  She enjoed spending time with family, sewing, quilting, going on shopping trips to Shipsewana and  attending quilt shows. 

On December 6, 1974 at the First Congregational Church of Otsego she married Rex Rouse who survives.  Also surviving are their children, Richard (Jessica) Rouse of Florida and Tiffany Rouse of Otsego; granddaughter, Sylvia Rouse, siblings, Arlene (Kerry) Keith, Dolores "Dolly" (David) Nicholson, Betty (Dan) Dennany, Roger (Jamie) Austin, Gary (Sharon) Austin and Brian (Kathy) Austin, mother-in-law, Marie Rouse, sister-in-law, Tammy Austin and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Cliff and Dennis, father-in-law, Richard B. Rouse.

Friends may visit with Mary's family starting at 10:00 am on Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at the First Baptist Church of Otsego until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 am with Pastor Paul Laborde officiating.

Burial will follow at Mountain Home Cemetery in Otsego.

Contributions in memory of Mary may be made to the Otsego Christian Academy Scholarship Fund or to Wings of Hope Hospice of Allegan.
