Phil Wilson

Phil passed away on December 16, 1970 in Vietnam as a result of enemy fire.  He was in the US Army and recieved the bronze star.  He was laid to rest on December 24, 1970 in Hillside Cemetery in Plainwell.

Thank you, Phil for your ultimate sacrifice!  We salute you!

I had only been back from Vietnam for three weeks, when i got the call about Phil ,so i came home from FT Carson and was handed the flag at the Cemetery since i was in uniform and i handed it to his mother.Phil died on Dec 16,1970 in Vietnam as the result of enemy fire he recieved the Bronze star for his actions while covering his Platoon from enemy fire until he was hit himself he was laid to rest on Dec 24, 1970 in Hillside Cemetery in Plainwell we saw each other only once in Vietnam

Bob White and I each have looked up Phils name at the Vietnam Wall. It is a sober reminder of the fact that it could have been any of us guys. I got number 236 so if anyone talks about winning the lottery I guess I would have to say- yes I won one. Those were stressful times one guy from my dorm floor at MSU got number 2 and was killed in action before the school year ended. He was taken right out of school. Flunking then in 68 when you had a S-2 deferment as a student could mean your death. Thanks to all you veterians men and woman from the class of 68. Dale
