Deacon Douglas Evan Wells, age 58 of Plano, IL passed away on Thursday, February 8, 2024 at Northwestern Medical Center in Chicago, IL. He was born on April 9, 1965 in Aurora, IL the son of Samuel and Virginia (Shamblin) Wells. Doug was united in marriage on November 5, 1988 to Tracy Hatcher and they spent the next 35 years happily together. Mr. Wells and his sister Patricia own the Water Wagon in Plano, IL. He was also a Chaplain for Kendall County, IL. Doug was Ordained a Deacon in 2011 when he was an active member of St. Mary Church in Plano, IL. In 2016, he was called to serve as Pastoral Associate at St. Patrick Church in Yorkville, IL where he helped implement one of his favorite programs called Alpha. Doug’s mission was to bring people closer to God so they can experience His love and mercy. Doug was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle who will be deeply missed by his family and many, many friends. Doug is survived by his wife, Tracy Wells of Plano, IL; his children, Elizabeth (Jordan) Hagemann of Foosland, IL and Evan Wells of Plano, IL; his grandchildren, Clayton and Conner Hagemann; his siblings, Rick (Kelly) Wells of Athens, GA, Michael (Kimberly) Wells of Danvers, IL and Patricia Wheeler of Plano, IL; his inlaws, Dave Hatcher and Anne Weigel; also many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Virginia Wells; and his sister, Karen Hatch. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 406 Walnut Street in Yorkville, IL. Interment will follow in Fowler Grove Cemetery in Big Rock Township, IL. Friends may visit from 2:00 until 7:00 PM on Friday, February 16, 2024 at St. Patrick Church in Yorkville, IL.
