In Memory

Juanita McGava

Dear PHS Class of '85

The family is very touched by your tribute to my sister.
Know that we all have so many great memories of Juanita enjoying her years at PHS, cheering her on during her volleyball and basketball years as well as all the friends and love she had surrounding her. That was apparent when we were forced to have three Plano Police Officers escort the 300+ car funeral procession from her hometown of Plano to Sandwich that wet rainy day. Not a day goes by that I wish my sister could have been there for my graduation that following year..or for her to stand up at my wedding..to hold her baby nephews...and it is the pain that never goes away but the memories that keep me going. For those of you who know me, I have Nita's drive and spirit and I try to keep her fire burning through my own actions and loyal friendships.

Please let me know if you need a picture of Juanita for your website or your reunion. I have many pics and would be happy to donate it for the evening's festivities.

Thank you again for your tribute and love for our sister!
Good Luck with your reunion! Live, Laugh and Love often!
That was what my sister would want to see...

Sincerely,
Becky (McGava) Nelson

This Sunday January 18, 1989 Marks the Anniversary of Juanita's passing.
I can not believe it has been 20 years. I was pregnant with my oldest daughter when I went to the funeral. Nita and I had some great times.I will never forget making a radio broadcast tape with her in 7th or 8th grade music class.I wish I had it. We did a weather report and stuff and played music by Meat Loaf. Those were the days. RIP

I did not attend Juanita's services. I simply was in denial and couldn't fathom having to let her go so soon.

My mother told me how her family asked where I was. "Julie's not feeling well", Mom said. Which was true. Even though I was clinging to a pillow sobbing my eyes out.

I have many fond memories of Juanita, Becky, Danny and the rest of the gang.

She will be there in spirit on August 7, 2010. She lives on in each of us. Her spunk lives on!!!
