Kathy realized her lifelong dreams of being a doctor and of owning a horse ranch. She married (don't know his name) and was happy doing what she had always wanted to do. Not too long after beginning her new career, she was struck down by cancer. She endured several painfull and invasive procedures and operations to no avail. She fought the good fight and will be rewarded in the here-after. Along with her love of horses and flowers, she is buried on her horse ranch near Austin, Texas.
We, who knew her, miss her, her bright smile and the beauty she brought to the world. She will live on forever in our hearts, minds, and daily lives. Rest in Peace Dear One. We love you.

I miss her so much...

Kathy was my first "girlfriend". (OK, maybe that honor goes to Ginny Apple...) But Kathy and I used to ride (her) horses north on the railroad tracks from her big house, which, at the time, seemed like the edge of Plano.
I remember her mother, Ila May (Mae?), who was the nurse at Dr. Apple's office on Avenue K. She gave me dozens of penicillin shots for my regular tonsillitis bouts...
Her dada was named Jack, as I remember.
Kathy transferred to Hockaday, as I remember, and I lost track of her after that. I would love to see photos of her from those years.
I remember her fondly, but, I must admit, vaguely after all these decades.

I, too, always wondered what happened to Kathy after she transferred to Hockaday. She lived two streets away and was another person whom I knew to be a true friend during our early childhood years. She was very sharp and had a way of enjoying life and being anyone's friend. She had that special gift of making anyone feel welcome. She is truly missed.

My most fond memory of Kathy is our third grade class together under Mrs. Ilgenfritz. Seated somewhat alphabetically, I was close to her and Donny Prince, although we were quietly separated at some point for having too much fun, I think.
Donny used a whole semesters' supply of notebook paper drawing battleships with his ruler. I though that was cool and tried to keep up with him until I got into trouble with my Mom for using too much notebook paper.
Kathy preferred to draw flowers. I took note of this, but could not draw flowers very well. My Dad had lots of plant and flower catalogs. I thought it was a good idea to share these beautiful pictures with Kathy. Some photos were in COLOR, and they were the most prized.
Somehow we decided that they would look even better if we enhanced them a bit. We soon had an after school hobby. The petals and stems were carefully outlined in glue, and we applied all colors of glitter that we could get our hands on. Then, they were even more beautiful! This went on for a while until we eventually moved on to other things.
