We have lost another class mate. I enjoyed Billy in High School, he was always calm.  I considered him as a friend, as we all celebrate our birthdays we grow closer to meeting those we have not been in touch with for years.  Will see you on the other side my friend!

Billy and I first met in Kindergarten where we attended, what is now, St. Peters Episcopal Church.  With his kind and gentle demeanor, we had a close friendship that took us through out grade school years together.

I remember every Saturday morning I would ride my bicycle to his house, where we would play for hours while his parents were working at their car dealership, “Powell’s Buick and Pontiac” here in Plant City.  The housekeeper was very nice, usually serving us both lunch before I would go home sometime in the early afternoon hours.

He had this little wind-up monkey I used to love playing with when I went to his house.  Being the kind and thoughtful person he was, he gave it to me one day to keep.  I guess you could say that Billy was my first “boy” friend.

Even though we drifted apart as we went through Junior High and High School, I will always remember Billy as having a very kind-hearted nature.

I am very sorry to hear of his passing and my condolences to his friends and family.
