Chris Hinckley

Hinckley, Captain Chris A., March 1, 1952 August 28,2009. Chris was born in Dayton, Ohio and lived there until 1966 when the family relocated to Broward County. He was predeceased by his father Wesley G. Hinckley and is survived by his loving mother Cleta; sisters, Terri Pendley and Toni Couvell; brothers-in-laws, Alan Pendley and Rick Couvell; niece Shawna Pendley; nephew, Shane Pendley; his wife Lisa and grandniece Eleanor; and nephews Christopher Hinckley, Luc Couvell & Bret Couvell. He worked for his parents at the Dipper Dan Ice Cream Parlor in Lauderhill Mall and graduated from Plantation High School in 1970. He learned the electric trade and earned his journeyman's license and traveled the country from Texas to Wyoming and all parts in between. He settled back in Broward County and started his company Mountain Electric, where he was a master electrician for over 30 years. His true love was the outdoors and he spent his life making the most of those times. He rafted the Rio Grande and Pecos Rivers, fished in Costa Rica, dove in Mexico, and loved the Florida Keys. He was the webmaster of the South Florida Dive Club, a task that he loved dearly and the friends he made through those associations will never be forgotten by his family. He was a dive master and a merchant marine and loved the ocean and all it had to offer. He will be missed by all that knew him. He lived his life with integrity, dignity, and a willingness to help those in need. The celebration of Chris's life will be at Kraeer-Fairchild Funeral Home 4061 N. Federal Highway in Fort Lauderdale on Friday September 4th from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
