Kenneth John Collier Kenneth John Collier, 58, peacefully passed, Thursday, May 13, 2010. Ken was born in Summit, New Jersey and soon after moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He graduated from Plantation High School. After high school Ken attended Stetson University where he was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. Ken earned his Bachelor of Science in chemistry from Florida State University. In 1977 he opened the commercial interior design company, Collier Interiors Inc., in Tallahassee, Florida. Over the next 30 years Ken committed himself to making many innovative contributions to the Tallahassee community, including sponsoring Florida State University's Seven Days of Opening Nights. Ken was an avid classic car enthusiast, spending time researching and working on his own collection. He and his wife, Joan, also enjoyed weekends sailing the St. John's River aboard their boat the Sea Garden. Ken is survived by his wife, Joan Peacock Collier of Tallahassee, Florida, and their children, Andrea Murray of Jacksonville, Florida, Eric Peterson of Tallahassee, Florida, Ken Powell Jr. (wife Amy) of Palm Coast, Florida and Rebecca Mayhann (husband Jason) of Tallahassee, Florida; parents Jim and Marie Collier of Tallahassee, Florida; sister Kathleen Owens (husband Jerry) of Van Buren, Arkansas; brother Rick Collier (wife Erlene) of Tallahassee, Florida; stepbrother Gary Collier (wife Jane) of New York, New York ; four nieces and one nephew; and three grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 4 pm EDT Thursday, May 20th, 2010, at Saint Paul's United Methodist Church in Tallahassee, Florida, with a graveside service at Roselawn Cemetery. The family has requested that donations be made to Hospitality House of Charlotte, P.O. Box 36891, Charlotte, NC 28236.
