
Florence (Nylin) Robinson passed away October 5, 2018 at the age of 94. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the MiddleburyCountry Church Cemetery (located between Hollandale and Barneveld) on Thursday, October 11, 2018.
Visitation will be at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory,Platteville, WI, on Wednesday October 10, 2018 from 4:00 -7:00p.m..

Florence was born in Waterloo, Iowa, August 13, 1924, daughter of Dr. Victor E. and Florence (Sage) Nylin. On May 31, 1952, she married Joshua F. Robinson at the Nylin family home in Platteville. Following their marriage, they lived in Story City, Iowa, Brookings, South Dakota, St. Paul, Minnesota, and Platteville, Wisconsin. Joshua passed away Feb. 3, 2012, age 87, after a brief illness. They would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in May of 2012.
Florence grew up in Hopkins, MN, and the family moved to Platteville as Florence entered high school. She attended the University of Wisconsin, Platteville, and graduated at Iowa State University (Ames, IA), with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Home Economics Education and a Master of Science degree in Education. Her career in education began with two years teaching at Reedsburg (WI) High School. She taught four years at UW-Platteville, two years as a teacher-educator for Iowa State University based in Story City, Iowa, and six years at South Dakota State University in Brookings, SD. Florence capped her teaching career at the Platteville High School where she taught Home Economics for seventeen years. After retirement from teaching, Florence continued her professional interests by working for H&R Block during tax season for several years.
Special interests, in addition to family, included crocheting an afghan for each grandchild, making quilts from daughter-in-law Gerri's quilt kits and genealogy, and the much-loved time talking to family and friends. Following her mother's interest, Florence belonged to the D.A.R., and authored and published significant genealogy books for the Robinson-Moore families, Nylin-Larsen line and the Sage-Schenk families.
Florence and Joshua enjoyed traveling with their children, pulling a pop-up camper all over the United States and Canada. A favorite destination was Disneyworld. Additionally, they spent one summer touring England and many European Countries, capping off the trip on a mail boat from Bergen north along the coast of Norway. Florence and Joshua had several visits to Alaska and trips to Australia to see family. They enjoyed weekends and summers at the house on Lake Redstone, near Reedsburg, WI.
Florence and Josh also had a long-standing association with the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, which encompassed professional, cultural and philanthropic activities.
She is survived by her three children, Mary (Daniel) Wagner, Eric (Gerri) Robinson, and, Ingrid Ohm. She is also survived by 23grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Nathan (Anna) Wagner,(Kate, Matthew, Lia, Tessa); Dr. Michael (Katie) Wagner, (Charlie); Dr. Emily (Easton) Dreher, (Toren, Cru); David (Jenny) Wagner, Johanna (Joshua) Wilkosz, (Sabrina, Ariel, Jedidiah); Brian (Emma) Wagner, Andrew Robinson, Joshua Robinson, Michael (Christina) Robinson, Lydia Ohm (Teneriffe), Isaac (Shima) Ohm (Penelope). Also surviving are cousins, Rod Sage, Helen Tardy, Australian cousins, and many other family and friends. Florence was preceded in death by her husband Joshua and her parents Dr. Victor and Florence Nylin.
