Kent “Bubba” Steers, 47, of Dickeyville, formerly of Platteville, died on Thursday, May 2, 2013, at his home of natural causes.
Kent was born on April 12, 1966, in Shawano, Wisconsin, the son of Stanley and Kathleen (Eichelkraut) Steers. Kent graduated from Platteville High School in 1984 and attended Kicking Horse Job Corp in Missoula, Montana. After graduating in from there in 1986, he was a registered forest fire firefighter and a heavy equipment operator. For many years "Bubba" was a cross country truck driver for many companies and most recently with his father, Stan.
Kent was very proud of his heritage being of the Menominee Nation. He enjoyed fishing, casinos where he liked to gamble, and watching movies. He especially enjoyed being with his family, children and grandchildren. He is survived by three daughters, Elizabeth Davey of Wauzeka, WI; Sheena Steers of Whitewater, WI; Shawna Steers of Wauzeka; 7 grandchildren, Linzie, Lillie, Antonio, Corey, Bricen, Mason and Malachai; his father, Stan of Platteville; sister, Kim (Ron) Slater of Shullsburg, WI; five half brothers, Pat (Kathy) Runde of Milton, WI; Mick Runde of Rockton, IL; Dan (Jan) Runde of Aurora, IL; Tyler Runde of Platteville; David (Jen) Runde of Milwaukee; and many nieces and nephews.
