Survived By: Michael was born on May 24, 1963 at Patrick AFB, Florida to Richard and Alice Van Doren and passed away March 8, 2011 in Colorado Springs, CO. He was a loving son, husband, father, leader and educator. Mike bettered the lives of all he touched. This fact encompassed his entire life between high school wrestling, his 22 year Air Force career and his 25 year marriage. Through the course of his life he exemplified the purest form of honor and integrity. He kept his promises and stood for what was right regardless of any risk to his own life or career. Michael Van Doren was loved by many, and a hero to all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Cassandra "Kay" Van Doren; Daughter, Jennifer Garner; Son, Michael Van Doren, II, his parents, Rick & Alice Van Doren and Brother, Charles "Chuck" Van Doren and his grandchildren, Brittney and Braiden Garner. Visitation will be held Sunday, March 13, 2011 from 4:00Pm-7:00PM at The Springs Funeral Services, 3115 E. Platte Avenue. A Celebration of Mike's Life will be held Monday, March 14, 2011, 10:00AM at The Springs Funeral Services with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
