Diane was my nieghbor and we were like brother and sister. I think of her often along with her twin brother David who passed away before her. diane was a sweetheart and David a gifted mechanic . I still have a rachet tool of his and when I'm working on some piece of machinery i use it and ask for his help.

I am sick at heart over the loss of Diane, especially at such a young age. She lived in San Mateo, I think it was, later in her life, that was close to us (about a 15-20 minute drive) and I remember getting a call from her, wanting to get together. Life was so hectic then, kids and job and house/yard and constant exhaustion! We promised to keep in touch and get together soon. The next thing I remember, she was gone! I will always regret not making a date during that call, and seeing her regardless of what else there was going on in life! She was a joy to be around! A sweet heart and soul! She is missed!

Al & I have been reminiscing since Sat night almost nonstop. It reminded me of one of my favorite Diane stories! A bunch of us girls were out together on a Fri or Sat night. Diane was driving. As the evening was ending, Diane realized we were being followed by a man alone in a car. Wisely, she said we had to get rid of him before we went to anyone's home to drop them off. Always thinking, and courageous, Diane pulled into the Bruce's variety store parking lot on Oak Park Blvd, right under a light. I was about to panic, scared out of my wits. Diane rolled down the window as he pulled up next to her, and as he greeted the "prey" Diane, in the most magnificent performance I have ever seen, put on her best contorted face, and in a hair lipped, mentally handicapped sounding voice, welcomed a conversation. The look on the guy's face was priceless, he sped off! Now she felt it was safe to take everyone home! Only Diane would have thought fast enough and be brave enough to pull that off!

Talk about thinking fast! What a great story and thanks for sharing memories of Diane. She lived right around the corner from and was a sweet person.
