Bill Batchelor

On Tuesday, July 14, 2026, William Ray “Bill” Batchelor passed away quietly after a battle with Cancer. He was 82. Bill was a loving and hardworking Husband, Father, Brother, Uncle, Friend and most importantly: Grandpa.

Bill was born to LaRoy Earl and Saxon “M” Batchelor in the “Old Dee” hospital in Ogden, Utah on March 26, 1944. During that time his father was serving in the military. He spent his youth living in Ogden near the Farr’s ice factory. Towards the end of his fourth grade year, The Batchelor family bought ground to build a home in Hooper Utah. Bill worked alongside his Father learning how to build, fix and grow just about anything. He was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He spent most of his life performing acts of service, whether it was corralling man who showed up for a project, building ramps, or teaching both young men and women or scouts survival training and camping.

Bill enlisted in the Utah Army National Guard serving 6 years and receiving an honorable discharge in 1966. The skills he learned her helped to prepare him for lifetime as a Field Engineer beginning with National Cash Register.

After moving to Hooper, Bill soon met then dated Karen A. Flinders. Married on March 26, 1964, together they would build their first house in Hooper.

Bill and Karen had three children and fostered a fourth. Tammy Batchelor, also of Hooper, Kenneth Douglas (Heather) Batchelor, of Ogden, Utah, Kevin LaRoy (Kate) Batchelor of Cedar Hills, Utah and Tammy (Jimmie) Land of Amarillo. 10 Grandchildren and 2 Great-grandchildren.

Bill loved just about any activity that could be done outdoors and even more those that had an engine. Bill never really retired he just moved from one type of machine to another. Bill loved camping, four-wheeling, wildlife and his family. He loved a good story and had ample smiles to go around.  His last great adventure was restoring and refinishing old tractors and was a member of the Great Basin Antique Machinery Club.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Hooper 1st Ward: 5601 South 6100 West, Hooper UT. Friends may visit with family on Friday, July 17, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary. 3333 W 5600 S, Roy UT, and on Saturday prior to service from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.

I am going to miss Bill.  He was a good friend from Hooper.
