SALT LAKE CITY, Utah -
Randall "Randy" Lynn Lasater, 67, passed away December 14, 2011, at the Veteran's Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah.
He was born October 9,1944, to Robert B. and Rowena Lasater in Ogden, Utah. He was raised in a warm and loving family surrounded by eight brothers and sisters.
Randy graduated from Weber High in 1962, where his Senior Accomplishments in the yearbook list "Spanish Club, Football Manager and Lunchline Committee." He was also an LDS Seminary graduate.
He played the guitar and sang beautifully. He was also an accomplished horseman.
He served with honor in the US Army during the Vietnam Conflict as a helicopter pilot, achieving the rank of Captain. As a result of his service, he suffered Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome which led to a series of health problems eventually contributing to his death.
He was survived by his three children, Brooke Casey) Rhyan, Eldorado Hills, CA; Dana (Alan) Von Holten, Eudora, KS; Blake Lasater, Walnut Creek, CA; three grandchildren, Madelyn and Timothy Rhyan and Brady Von Holten; two brothers, John R. Lasater, North Ogden and Kent Lasater, South Ogden; two sisters, Diane Nielsen, Harrisville and Valerie Updike, Peoria, AZ.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters.
As per his wishes cremation was held. A Celebration of his Life was scheduled to be held in the spring of 2012 with his ashes scattered from a helicopter over the Monte Cristo Mountains.

Ileen Taylor (Robinette)
Randy was a nice, funny guy. He was the date of my friend, Cheryl Huffman at the Girls' Choice dance at Wahlquist Jr. High when we were in the Seventh Grade. I had a crush on Richard Hagen, so I talked Cheryl into double dating with us. After the dance we had dinner at Utah Noodle Parlor on Grant Ave. Randy cracked so many jokes, he had us gigling through the whole meal. I laughed so hard that one time I spit the chow mein right out of my mouth! I don't think my date was amused because he was very quiet. When Richard got out of the car at the end of the date, he told me, "Thanks for the noodles!" Sorry that Randy isn't around anymore. I liked him. Ileen Taylor Robinette

Randy was a truly funny guy. In school he always made Joan Spackman and me laugh, a lot! About ten years ago I was visiting my uncle in his car dealership in downtown Oakland Ca. Someone tapped me on the shoulder and said, “I know you.” I turned around and it was Randy Lasater! He was selling my uncle a telephone system. We visited and he told me about his helicopter flying in Vietnam. He looked exactly the same as in high school except he had beautiful silver hair, just like the picture above. We ran into each other one more time in a restaurant in Walnut Creek. CA. He must have lived close to me for a long time because I noticed in the obituary that he has children in Walnut Creek and El Dorado Hills, which are not far from where I live. I was very sad to hear of his passing. He was unique and very fun to have as a friend.
