Judy Scroggins Binkley, 82, of Yuma, Arizona, passed away on May 4, 2026. She was born on January 7, 1944, in Ogden, Utah to Harold and Ann Roe, and lived a life defined by compassion, generosity, humor, and an unwavering dedication to the service and care of others.
Judy grew up in Ogden and graduated from Weber High School in 1962. She continued her education at St. Benedict School of Nursing and graduated in 1965, and began a career in healthcare that would span more than four decades. As a registered nurse, Judy served her community with distinction at the Ogden Women's Clinic, St. Benedict's Hospital (later Ogden Regional Medical Center), and Davis Surgical Center. Throughout those years, she touched countless lives with her skilled hands, warm heart, and an honest, straightforward manner that put patients and colleagues alike at ease.
In July of 1967, Judy married the love of her life, Don Scroggins, and together they welcomed two children, Shellie and Brandon. She was a devoted mother and wife who balanced the demands of a busy nursing career with a rich home life filled with love and laughter. Following Don's passing in 2008, she found love again and married Victor "Jim" Binkley in May of 2010, and the two shared many happy years together.
Beyond her nursing career, Judy was a woman of remarkable creativiy, ingenuity, and skill. She was co-owner of the Glass Connection in Ogden with her sister, Carol, sharing her talent and passion for stained glass artistry. As a skilled seamstress, she created beautiful quilts and generously donated them to various onchology centers for patients receiving chemotherapy treatments. She also knitted caps and blankets for newborns in local NICU and pediatric units, ensuring that the tiniest and most vulnerable patients were wrapped in warmth and love. Her hands and mind were never idle, and whether she was sewing, knitting, crocheting, tending to her plants, cooking a meal for loved ones, playing with her pups, reading, or planning her next adventure, Judy approached ever endeavor with passion and joy.
Judy was known for her honest, direct approach, her generous spirit, and her wonderful sense of humor. She enjoyed making people laugh, and had a gift for making those around her feel valued and important. She treasured time spent with family and friends, and her home was always filled with warmth, love, and the smell of good cooking.
As an active member of her community, Judy was a faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic Church (West Haven), Holy Family Catholic Church (South Ogden), and St. John Neumann Roman Catholic Church (Yuma). Her faith was a quiet but steady presence in her life that guided her acts of service and sustained her through life's joys and sorrows. She was also an active member of the Fraternal Order of Moose and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, where she enjoyed companionship and camaraderie.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Ann Roe; her first husband, Don Scroggins; her second husband, Victor "Jim" Binkley; and her son, Brandon Scroggins.
She is survived by her daughter, Shellie Scroggins; her sister, Carol Williams; her brothers, Mike and Jeff Roe; and her granddaughter, Isabella Miller.
