John Whitesides died in 1989 tragically buy building a pipe bomb to remove stumps on his dads land. He was halfway through the police academy that I also attended when we lost him. He was given a full honors ceremony, we all dressed in our blues and were given the honors of carrying the casket, and giving his badge of honor to his soon to have been bride and their unborn child. We were devastated to loose our brother and John would have made a great peace officer. He really wanted to help protect and serve in a way we both felt would show the public that we didn't have a ego to feed and treat others as we would want to be treated. John would have been that man in uniform and out of uniform. You are missed.
