Douglas Marriott Peterson passed away August 1st in his home after an epic 12 year struggle with Chondrosarcoma. Doug was born June 9th, 1968 in Ogden, Utah to Rollo Hadley and Kay Marriott Peterson. He grew up on a small family farm in Taylor, Utah where he learned to work, tease his sisters, ride his motorcycle on the sand hills and work on his' 62 Chevy truck with his friend Clint. He was a good student and achieved good grades with little effort. While growing up, he enjoyed the traditional yearly camping and fishing trips to Bridger Lake with family and friends. Later, he enjoyed fishing trips in Wyoming with his father-in-law Steve. Doug loved to read and was always reading a good book. Doug graduated from Weber High School and Weber State University. He served an L.D.S. mission to Seville, Spain from 1987 to 1989 and has been active in callings such as finance clerk. Doug loved his Father in Heaven and had a strong testimony. The gospel was a big part of his life. He worked for Globe Seafood Co., Jetway and 17 years at the IRS. He received many awards and opportunities to travel. Doug married Jennifer Dawnel Fisher on April 18, 1997 in the Ogden L.D.S. temple and later had two children, Ashlyn Jennel Peterson and Dallin Douglas Peterson. Doug was very proud when Ashlyn was born who was called "princess" by her mother. He was also proud when Dallin was born. Dallin was their "miracle" baby because Doug was told he might not be able to have more children after his radiation treatments. Doug called Dallin his "buddy". His wife Jennifer became ill with cancer in July 2005 and Doug affectionately cared for her until her death in September of the same year. After Jennifer's death, he lovingly cared for his little family until the last reoccurrence of his cancer. His mother cared for him and his children in his home through his struggles during the last year and a half. We wish to thank family and friends who have helped Doug at important times in his life: Ryan and Gina Kinikin, who introduced him to his wife. Ryan encouraged him to exercise and gain strength after one of many surgeries. We would also like to thank Claudette Nielsen, Lyle Earl, Jan Harris along with many others in the ward and stake and colleagues at IRS who befriended him, helped him and donated many hours of leave time during his wife's illness and again when his cancer returned. We would also like to recognize the long-time friendship of Clint Andrascik who was more like a brother to Doug with whom he shared many misadventures in his old Chevy truck. Doug was preceded in death by his wife Jennifer, grandparents Hazel Hadley and E. Spencer Peterson and Helen Hall and Joseph Delbert Marriott. Doug is survived by his children Ashlyn and Dallin, his parents, three sisters, Allyne (Don) Hall, West Haven, Debbie (Kevin) Limb, Clearfield, Krisan (John) Tracy, Taylor and one brother, Mark (Tiffany) Peterson, Clearfield. He is also survived by Jennifer's family, Steve Fisher, Sharie Fisher, brothers Jory and Steven all of Big Piney, Wyoming and sisters Shanna (Wes) McMullen, Laramie, WY and Joanna Fisher, Salt Lake City.
