I was planning on attending our 55th reunion as it has been a very long time since I did one of these.
Sadly, I have to report that my exposure to agent orange while serving on the carrier USS Oriskany off the coast of Vietnam has now likely caused severe dysphasia, very difficult to eat much of anything let alone drink water. Had an endoscopy which uncovered suspicion and then had a CT and they found an ademocarcinoma growing quickly and pressing against my esophagus and it has been determined to be esophageal cancer. Who else remembers how JFK was against sending troops to Vietnam? And how we were all against it. Well they killed him off so they could build their war machine, and I blame our government, yeah, I know, I have reason to be angry, but dammit.
The plan is 4 rounds of chemo over the next 2 months followed by surgery at the Mayo clinic, then followed by 2 more months of chemo. Praying to God that I can beat this. But already so hard to simply eat and my energy levels are low. So far I have lost quite a bit of weight, and apparently I will have no hair soon. That's okay, I am going to fight this!
Hope enough of you are able to attend, I will be there in spirit.
