
Kenneth Steven Morris ( "Steve" to our class).
Beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on June 6, 2024 at Covenant Health Care. He was born on April 19, 1946, in Brighton, Michigan to the late Rev. Kenneth and Emily Morris. When he was three his family moved to Armonk where his father became rector of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church. He was a proud graduate of Pleasantville High School (1964). Following graduation, he attended Pace where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in History.
He serendipitously met the love of his life, Janice "Jan" Hovel while attending a New Year's Eve gathering. They dated, fell in love and were married April 4, 1970 in his father's church. In 1977 they moved to Saginaw, Michigan which quickly became their home.
A proponent of education, he began taking classes at Delta College where he studied computer science. Through one of his teachers he was give the opportunity to interview at Dow Corning, becoming a Computer Data Specialist with the company for 20 years. Upon retirement he used his excellent communication and training skills to teach computer classes at Saginaw Valley State University, Delta College and Davenport University. The role of his lifetime, one he treasured and cherished above all others was to be a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather.
He was a devoted and faithful member of the Community Baptist Church and also a longtime member and financial secretary at Second Presbyterian Church. {Steve} was a gifted and talented guitarist, winning the heart of his wife many years ago. He was also an accomplished crocheter, keeping his hands busy and creating many beautiful rectangular pieces and afghans over the years. He will forever be remembered for his kind spirit, for being an educator that made a difference in the lives of many , for his unparallelled communication skills and intellect, and for truly living an amazing life filled with many beautiful memories and stories.
Surving are his beloved wife of 54 years, Jan Morris of Saginaw; two children: Jessica (Anthony) Bornemann of Saginaw; Jonathan Morris and his fiancee Alyssa Dupuis of Milwaukeee; one granddaughter, Waverly Seagraves of Saginaw; sister-in-law Barbara Delfs of Somers, NY and brother in-law Craig (Susan) Hovey of Bend, Oregon. Also surviving are many extended family and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
