Linda Holton

Our friend Linda Holton passed away Saturday, August 17 at her home on Cape Cod. With her, surrounding her in love, were her daughters, her sister and a friend.

Through her work as a social worker and her Quaker beliefs and her strong and beautiful personality she made the world a better place one person at a time.

Linda was tough and strong, tender, sweet, kind and loving. She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to laugh.

We became friends having all our classes together from 13-15 years old. Our last names started with "H" so we usually sat near each other. We learned to make each other laugh and to trust.

I got to know Linda well in later years, often visiting her at her house on the Cape. We still easily laughed together and I told her when she laughed I could see the 14 year old girl. She loved hearing that.

We texted, wrote or spoke several times a week, always at least once a week.

I love her and will keep her in my heart and miss her for the rest of my days.

Tom

A lovely soul. I first met her after being transferred to Roselle Avenue and in Girl Scouts, then at a reunion got to know her again. My condolences to her family and long-time friends, knowing they will be missing one if the best of us.

Linda and I were pals in primary school at Roselle Avenue.  Her mom was our Brownie leader so I got to  know Linda even better.  Such fun times!  I lost track of her because of living abroad but it was so  nice to reconnect at the last reunion.  I knew from Tom that she wasn't well.  He encouraged me to get in touch with her - which I did and we shared some lovely communications, for which I'm grateful.

I was truly saddened just now to learn of Linda's passing. Linda and I were very briefly "an item" somewhere around 6th or 7th grade. We did not have contact after PHS graduation but I nonetheless feel a sense of loss, as I do each time I read one of these obituary posts. Since I have no siblings, classmates became part of my extended family and the passing of each one hurts. I offer sincere condolences to her family and to those of you in PHS 64 who had the privilege of knowing her long and well.

So sad. Linda was my next door neighbor for all the years she lived in P'ville. We were best buds for many of those years, tho we grew in different directions after middle school. I did visit her in high school for a weekend in her new home and then reconnected with her on Cape Cod many years later; I was excited to get her to our 50th reunion. She was many things to many people, I wish we had been geographically closer to nurture the bond we once had. She will always be an honorary Panther. RIP.
