Boots was a good guy. I'm sure we all have certain memories that come to mind. Mine is how he got his nickname. At football practice we were supposed to be in shorts, shirt, cleats and helmet. Kevin didn't have all of his gear, so he comes out with his football pants minus the pads, western shirt and his boots. He did have his helmet on. Coach Cagle tried his best to get onto him but he couldn't keep from laughin'.
Kevin was a great friend. He and I grew up together and went to the same church. We had great times at school as well as church and summer camps. The summer camps were awesome. The one special time I remember is one weekend we rode our bikes down a very steep hill his mom didn't want to go near. My brakes went out and I sailed down the hill nearly wiping myself and him out. After it was over it was funny but we both thought we were going to be in big trouble when we got back to his house late and couldn't explain what we had been doing.
